Guinness World Records Tells My Story – Again
I’m delighted to share that Guinness World Records has featured my story for a second time – this piece, written by GWR Lead Digital Editor Vicki Newman and published on 8 July 2026, focuses on the memoir I’ve been working on: Unbroken – The Liam Beville Story.

What the Article Covers
The feature revisits the accident that changed everything – being hit by a stolen car at 18, the year in plaster, six months in a wheelchair, and having to learn to walk again – and traces that journey through to the world record I set in 2022 and the 40-year competitive career I’m marking this year.
It also touches on why I’ve always competed in able-bodied powerlifting rather than a disabled category – I didn’t want my achievements diminished or doubted – and on the letter of recognition I received from Michael D. Higgins, the former President of Ireland.
Most importantly, it’s the first time GWR has covered the memoir itself – the book that tells this whole story in my own words, from the crash right through to becoming the world’s No. 1 ranked lifter in my age and weight category.
About Unbroken
Unbroken – The Liam Beville Story is set for release later this year. It’s the full account – not just the record, but everything that came before and after it. I hope it will speak to anyone who’s been told their circumstances define their limits.
I’ll be sharing more updates on the book, including release details, here on the site and across my social channels in the coming months.
