An Inspiring Sunday with Miriam
On Sunday morning, 27 September 2026, I had the honour of appearing on RTÉ Radio 1’s Sunday with Miriam.
Additionally, in conversation with Miriam O’Callaghan, I spoke about my memoir, Unbroken – The Liam Beville Story.
Additionally, Sunday with Miriam, we spoke about the morning in June 1983 that changed everything.
I was eighteen when I was struck by a stolen car travelling at roughly 60 mph.
It left me with catastrophic injuries to both legs.
Six months in a wheelchair.
Twelve months in full plaster casts.
Nobody expected me to walk properly again, let alone compete.
Unbroken-The Liam Beville Story tells the forty-year journey that followed – how powerlifting became the way I rebuilt my strength and my identity, eventually leading to six simultaneous world records and recognition from Guinness World Records. It’s a story about adversity, resilience, and what happens when you refuse to let one moment define the rest of your life.
