At just 18, Liam Beville was struck by a stolen car in a head-on collision, leaving him with catastrophic injuries that required him to relearn how to walk. Through relentless determination, he rebuilt himself physically and mentally, ultimately becoming a national powerlifting champion and breaking the Guinness World Record for Heaviest Deadlift (Male, MP4).
On 5 February 2022, at the age of 57, Liam lifted 285 kg (628 lb) at the IrishPO National Single Lift Championships in Limerick – a weight heavier than a baby grand piano. Despite his disability, he has only ever competed in able-bodied competitions and was awarded Best Lifter at the same event.
